Design

The latest Honda Integra Type-S is a highly potent sports car which is a huge amount of fun to drive with a formidable 325hp and 310 lb.ft torque.

However, it does lack something and this is evidence from just hearing the engine under normal driving and looking under the engine bay. The intake has a convoluted air path and small opening for air.We took a radical approach to the design using a large expanding tube with integrated MAF housing feeding into a completely redesigned airbox with significantly larger volume and a 80% enlarged opening.Our signature double cone large surface area air filter is used with it's 175mm opening.  This is housed in the air filter housing and the system is clamped together.In addition to the intake system we have also developed a stand alone turbo inlet tube which increases volume and has a smoother radius into the turbo reducing turbulence.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

During the development process we created multiple prototypes and models.  

The OEM system has a small opening and uses a standard panel filter with a small cross sectional area with a simple tube. 

We decided to create a system which followed the same path but with significantly enalrged air opening, add our signature large venturi tube mating to a vastly larger volume airbox.Doubling the cross sectional area of the front inlet feed giving more a more than adequate increase on available air

After some iterations this method gave the best air flow under CFD analysis showing less turbulence than the OEM system with vastly increased airflow. 

The results on both the dyno (see below) and road driving were excellent.  Vastly improved throttle response, low end torque response improvementsUnder normal but spirited driving the engine feels even more eager to accelerate at every rpm wether under partial load or full load.

High Flow Air Filters & Intake Temperatures

Our bespoke short stack high surface area filter larger than any cone filter design currently on offer on the market with a huge opening of 170mm (6 3/4") and is designed to take full advantage of the intake tubes by altering the direction of the airflow towards the outer walls.  By placing the air filters in front of the inlet tube we achieve the largest velocity stack.

PERFORMANCE TESTING

Dyno tests were performed under strict controlled conditions on an independent Maha MSR500 dynamometer in order to show a true and realistic result. 

The stock car made almost exactly what the manufacturer quotes with 330 BHP with a perfect and natural power curve.

After fitting our intake system  347 BHP  was achieved.

A significant and clear gains of 17 BHP.

From 2500-7000rpm the torque and power increases consistently through the rpm range

At 5500rpm the engine gains significant HP and torque.

Run down losses remains identical between the two tests as did the ambient temperature.

Both sets of tests were carried out with identical starting oil and coolant temperatures.Dyno Line Key:
