Design

Designed for the A45S, GLA45S and CLA45S cars, this intake follows the factory setup with a single inlet crafted around the factory air intake feed which is more than capable of delivering adequate air for even stage 3 hybrid turbo cars.

An additional opening is made on the right hand side away from the engine heat which has shown improved performance.

Using our bespoke double cone filter with it's 170mm (6 3/4 inch) opening the turbo is able to draw in the maximum amount of air.

The intake tube of the intake is made up of a single venturi tube with to smooth out the airflow which in turn improves throttle response and increase horsepower and torque. The less the engine has to work in drawing in the air, the more power it can generate.

This smoother less restrictive design allows for faster turbo spool up times which also enhances dynamic engine performance through vastly improved throttle response.

CFD Analysis
As with all of our designs we use computational fluid dynamics analysis (CFD Analysis).
The results show a smooth non turbulent air flow with the filter which straights out the air and allows the venturi inlet tube to draw in large amounts of air at high speed and both act independently and create what is effectively the largest velocity stack of any intake system on the market.

Intake Temperatures

The majority of intake systems on the market are open designs which allow high temperature engine bay air to enter the intake system.

This has has a two tier negative effect:
- The most understood effect is that the hotter engine bay air is less dense in oxygen which naturally produces less power.
- The second effect is less well understood.  The ECU detects the higher temperature air through the intake air.  The ECU temperature compensation tables will reduce ignition timing which has a significant effect on power output and throttle response and target boost.
This is often not seen on dyno testing of open intakes as most tests are performed with the bonnet open.

It has has been meticulously designed to allow for maximum air flow creating a perfect seal which keeps the intake air temperatures at their lowest at all times and thus giving the best possible performance.

Heatsoak is non existent.

Lower Duct

The over sized air intake duct ensures maximum cold dense air enters the intake system and available volume of air under sudden demands of air taking full advantage of the space available in the engine bay.

Our bespoke short stack high surface area filter larger than any cone filter design currently on offer on the market with a huge opening of 170mm (6 3/4") and is designed to take full advantage of the intake tubes by altering the direction of the airflow towards the outer walls.  By placing the air filters in front of the inlet tube we achieve the largest velocity stack.

Carbon Finish

Two difference carbon finishes are available.
Gloss & Matte

The gloss finish is for those who want to their engine bay to stand out and is highly reflective

PERFORMANCE TESTING

Dyno tests were performed under strict controlled at one of the UK's most respected Mercedes tuning companies in order to show a true and realistic result.

We used a Stage 3 car with larger turbo, downpipe and ECU tune running over 500HP to make the comparison.

Using a higher powered tuned car fully reflects the capability and additional air flow available from fitting this intake.

A healthy and genuine increase of  14-18hp from 5200rpm - 6900rpm

Earlier turbo spool up time rpresented by increased low end torque is also evident from the graphs.

Two tests were performed for consistency and opposite correction factors showing both a minimum and maximum gain.
